Pine bream a bit slow today
« on: Mon 25 Nov 10:19 2019 »
Thought that the tide this morning was ideal for another shot at the bream. Turned out pretty quiet with not many fish about and often a fair wait between bites. Caught 10, kept 6 reasonable fish. Had a quick look in a few spots for a prawn - caught 1 banana prawn for the morning. Came in about 8.30. Still beats working!

Another good feed of bream John.
One Banana prawn! How did you miss the rest of the school? :)

Had another shot at the Pine for about four hours this morning. Plenty of bream about, but the quality was very poor. Caught about 20 but only kept 4, with most of the unders being well under. Haven't caught so many tiny bream in the Pine for ages. Still no prawns around yet - I think the river needs a decent flush with some substantial rain totals to get them started.

G'day John,

Prawns might be still upstream.

Has there been any gar where you been?

Cheers, Bondy

No Peter. When I fish the summer bream in the Pine I don't use any berley so I don't attract any gar. My berley always attracts a few when I'm fishing Bribie, but I haven't seen many lately up there either.

Had another look at the bream in the Pine on the big tide this morning. Plenty of bream there but still no quality about them. Must have caught about 30 all up - but only kept 6, mostly just legal although one went 32 cm. Had a look for lizards on the falling tide but only managed one, plus 2 small GT's. A few prawns early - mixed bananas and greasies, but not enough to persuade me to concentrate on them. Hopefully as the prawns get more plentiful the quality of the bream will pick up as well. I'll have another look for them in two weeks time around the new moon.

Terry Were you out there today? I thought I saw you motoring past while I was fishing the Redcliffe bridges.

Had another look for the bream on the big high tide today. Still plenty there, despite the fresh in the river, but no great increase in quality yet. Caught about 20 but kept only 7, and no outstanding ones amongst them - best was only 28 cm. Only the odd greasy prawn about and not in any numbers. Had a quick look for lizards to use up the rest of the prawns I'd thawed but could not find a scale around the Redcliffe bridges today. Quit about 10.30 and almost got the boat in the garage before the storm hit - almost! At least the rain is nice and cool. I'll try again in a fortnight.

Don't know why the photo is on its side. It's the right way up in the file I downloaded and is in the correct orientation when you click on it. Just one of the mysteries of life I guess.
