the little Merc that spews fuel
« on: Sat 6 Jul 15:10 2019 »

You will see water from the tel-tail then fuel pouring out another hose,it has done it from new, never does it for the dealers when in for repair. Not great for the environment.
Any idea's for a fix,so frustrating.

    Hi Steve
Does the fuel pour out at idle and at speed, any chance you can remove the cowling  and post a pic of where the pipe connects to the motor.

Yes Ron at speed and idle, the hose comes from the top of the carby.I'll get my son to send a pic.

According to a similar post on another forum it was a stuck float in the carbie and that hose is like a relief or vent pipe. They recommend taking the 3 screws out to get the bowl off and spraying with carb cleaner n then reassemble
Looking forward to the next trip

He did that this morning with no success and everything looked clean and free,re-assembled and made no difference.

There are two hoses coming from the carby and exiting the cowling, I figured one would be an over flow and thought maybe the second might be an air vent,I got him to blow down that hose he said it felt restricted and a little fuel came out the other hose,he blew down it again and this time something let go and no restriction was sensed, pulled the starter cord and all was good.Hopefully fixed.

I am with beach bum about it being a vent hose, if it wasn't there and there was a blockage in the hose between the carby and the fuel filter it would flood every time you tried to start it, might be worth draining the existing fuel in the tank just in case there is sediment in it and replace with fresh fuel, hope it is now fixed Steve
