Long time member, first time rod-rebuilding...
« on: Tue 5 Feb 19:35 2019 »
Gday all,

I have a soft spot for seeing the old style fiber glas rods turn from something you wouldn't even look at twice to seeing an absolute gem re build.

I've followed a lot of the guys on here who have that awesome ability to bring back to life such beauties.

I've managed to pick up some rods recently which I thought were a bargain for $50.00, yet I'm stuck on exactly what I have. My next door neighbor seems to think I've scored some great old rods and he certain I have a sort after 3w in the red color, wanna have a shot at trying to restore them...... not sure if I'm capable of it......yet

Cheers
Fritzy

Great project. Donít let anyone talk you into a new reel seat you are onto a winner with the stainless ones they are bulletproof compared to the new age plastic/composite stuff.
Looking forward to the next trip

Mate, you wouldn't believe the amount of guys that have said cut off the old reel seat! I spoke to a guy today who showed me the same type of seats I have on my rod which are currently corroded and an old trick he uses is white vinegar. Definitely going to get it a go.

Most old Snyder Glas had the model written on the blank under the butt cap. Bring them down to a weigh in and I'll tell you what they are.

Cheers nugget,  I think that'll be the best bet.

Although I did find this under one butt cap.
