Plenty of sandies-Manly
« on: Sun 29 Jul 19:00 2018 »
Hey folks,

Just a quick message regarding sandies in the bay.

Have been managing a feed every trip without huge numbers or big crabs but worth the effort.

Most caught in 3metres around the out of manly to well and the boggerbones overvthe southern side of green in 5-6m.

I got another 6 in a couple hours today while buzzing around the islands searching for pirate treasure with the kids!

Back to work tomorrow as no treasure was found😁

thanks for the info bermo

doing my 1st trip for the season in a few weeks!

can wait!

the crabs are there all year round, just when the water is cooler they don't grow hence why you get smaller crabs and not as many
but if you are happy to catch 6 or 8 now this is the time to go as there is no one else out there to raid your pots ( hopefully)

    My pleasure blindly.

Hope you get into a couple.

I'm still working the sandies out. I've always targeted muddies over the years and have started to try for the sandies now that I'm fishing the bay more.

    I figure it's a bonus getting a feed of crab in winter-spring.

Although starting to get excited for the Mud crab season. Getting some new pots and lift dillies this weekend. Bring on Summer!

Let me know how you fare in a couple weeks mate.

I've always been going to buy and try one of those lift dillies I presume they are legal in QLD have you had much success in the past with them?
    Cheers

    Hey MQ,

The lift dillies work a treat in the creek around 1-3m when not huge amount of  current.

They are legal, but the old witches hat ones are illegal.

I don't leave my pots out. I sit with them most of the time and work them regularly, hence the dillies being preferred.

I will grab a couple to just leave in the boat,I get out a bit and only need 2 or 3 sandies a trip, the pots are bulky and a pain in the backside at times.

Pirate Treasure with the kids. Nice work, they would have loved it. Thinking of telling my daughter but I will never hear the end of it until we do it.
    Great effort with the sandies.
