Green back comp + results
« on: Sun 10 Jun 19:12 2018 »
Fished South ballina beach for the comp. plenty of other fishers on the beach some with no manners High beaming past us at night n a few that even pulled up next to us n reversed up to the dune with lights on the water. Anyhow we managed a mixed bag of bream n tailor between us my best tailor came about 4.30 this morning going about 1.65 kgs and was sitting second on leader board in the men's catogory for a while before getting bumped by some over 2 kgs. The heaviest over all tailor went to one of the senior men's at 3.5 kgs. But fish of the day for me was a 17 kg Jew weighed in by one of the ladies.
Looking forward to the next trip

Well done Beachy, at least you got to weigh in something.
Not bad conditions for the weekend so standing in the suds would have been awesome.

Some were talking about 7 mile beach near Lenox heads but I think that might have just been a one off for the comp. South ballina is good as there is a van park to stay at next to the northern cutting if you want to do it that way.

Plenty of choppers each high 35-40 if you had fresh bait n could/would cast a 10 ball far enough. Plenty of guys pulled up next to us n tryed throwing pillies with little rods n sinkers with out getting their feet wet n wondered why we were getting fish n they weren't.
Looking forward to the next trip

7 mile is open but you need a permit which can be purchased from a vending machine near the Lennox surf club. The permitted area only runs for a few kms so not really worth it in my opinion. South Ballina beach is the go for free

I've only recently gotten into the comps bondy but taken the chocolates in a few smaller local comps but I didn't think 1.6 kgs would cut it in this one. Still at the pointy end tho always next year.

About a k down from the cutting on South ballina beach. There was a big lump of tree stump or something there with the best gutter we could find infront and still have somewhere safe to put the cars at high tide. There was another nice hole right at the cutting but not big enough for the 3 of us to all fit a couple of rods in with out a million tangles and the other good spots for the next few Ks further south didn't have anywhere to put cars at high.
Looking forward to the next trip
