A trip off Brunswick Heads
« on: Thu 31 May 09:45 2018 »
Hi,

3 of us did a trip off Brunswick Heads. Started fishing in 75 metres and landed snapper, pearl perch & a few other assorted models. The plan was to go deep and use the electric reels so with a light NW blowing and some current we decided to go out further. When we reached the marks in 220 metres the wind had increased to the point white caps were appearing so we had a few drops using 3 lb of lead but found we were drifting at 3 knots which proved too fast & hard to drop on the fish marking on the bombie. We only caught one bar cod and a few nannygai so decided to head home.
By the time we reached where we caught the fish earlier the wind had dropped off but the current was still running at 2.7 knots so we float lined some more snapper & pearl perch before heading back to Brunswick Heads crossing the bar on low tide.
The bar is very shallow at low tide and had a small wave breaking the width of the bar so anyone using this bar be careful.

Cheers,

Ross

    G'day Rosco,

Good effort mate, bit of a let down on seamount, those destinations can be bit more of a challenge even on the best of days.
