Venom rods
« on: Sun 6 May 19:31 2018 »
I have purchased 3 venom rods Pe 2/8 6"6. 2 at the same time and 1 about a year later. All 3 rods have started to splinter in between the 4th and 3rd last eyes. Just wondering if anyone else has this issue.
Cheers

Sounds like a manufacturing problem, Shimano had a similar problem with some of their blanks about 9 years ago.  My "splintering looked like someone had taken a razor blade and "cut" thin splinters off.  Took a while but I got the rods replaced, had to get Shimano rep involved.

Tried taking a photo but wouldn't let me focus on the rod, and the 1st 2 I had them both bound between eyes so it wouldn't get worse.

 Hi,

what sort of warranty is on venom rods- they are not exactly at the cheap end of the spectrum? is it Wilson who are the suppliers? Might be worth a call.

Regards,

Lew

Hey
They have a 12 month warranty from date of purchase. Purchased the both in august 2015 and didn't notice til about 18 months. At this stage it doesn't seem to affect the rod performance.

Geez don't use them if there's splintering mate, I'd get back onto them asap.  Splintering usually occurs due to an injection failure, resin doesn't make it in correct density so over time the fibres "break free" I'd have those rods in their face yesterday.  As I said above, it may take getting a rep involved.  Sorry, I don't know how has the agency now but make a few call, sure you'll get some answers.
