Have the tailor turned up already? Heard a few reports that choppers are around. Is this true?

g-day farcall mate! truth is they been here all year!  just get ya times and tides right and ya should get a feed at least!  my own experience I found the catch rates drops a bit this time of year but put the hard yards in and you'll score.  this dosnt mean you can throw a line in anywhere and get em!  In fact if I were to try this week I would be looking at bar entrance's, tweed, fingal and jumpinpin to name a few!  Good luck!

Found one lonely one in nsw last weekend for the monthly club Comp along with a mixed bag of dart bream n whiting. Tailor is my pb it went 73 cm n just under 3 kgs. You guys should come down to a weigh in and have a chat to some of the guys n girls there as lot more information is shared in person vs over the net and the numbers have been down a bit lately so it would be nice to see a few new faces.
Looking forward to the next trip

The choppers have been around the Broadwater for awhile now. The size should improve over the next month but I am not expecting any fish the size of Beach Bum's

Seems to be bit larger specimens over the border than local Gold Coast beaches. Going to try Black Rock, Fingal Headland and Cabarirta between 21st and 24th May, depending on wind and swell, just before sunrise using metal lures at Fingal Headland and pillies / stripped bonito and gar at Black Rock evening.

    Beach Bum,

Sorry mate, had a few pc issues, hence late report.

Did not go as far as Evans Head, but did go to Kingscllffe for nil, then went to a spot near the caravan park right down the end of Pottsville, had 5 bites, with 3 hookups, don't know what the fish was, did not get it to raise up, ended up snapping my line, was using 10lb mainline and 30lb leader, good 10 minute struggle, then whooska, poing, called it quits until later. Not having a 4WD to get to better gutters and probably bit more remote locations makes it a tad hard. Wont be walking 4 klms away from my vehicle.

I will be down over the border again this weekend trying to scratch up a feed.
I won't be around for the greenback comp coming up but I'll try to give you guys an update on beach conditions etc.
    Anyone else doing a pre-fish?

Also appologies in advance as I seem to attract 25kt + southerly blows when I go fishing.

G'day cus, I might be down there during the greenback comp, lot of locations will be fished. I'll be down at Black Rock before sunrise and again at dusk depending on sea conditions and wind.

    Might see you down there.

Burger, one of my brother in laws n I are first timers this year heading down Friday to go for a drive to try n find some good water for saturday night n get some fresh bait. And with the boundary going down to patches beach we will probably be somewhere between there n the South ballina wall as we're both better setup to fish somewhere with 4x4 access.
Looking forward to the next trip
