Looks like a trevally very slimy and an extending mouth seen in the photo

    Ponyfish is correct, however they do get substantially bigger than that.
    I caught two in ningi creek recently that were nearly 30cm long.

    Twenty years ago they were very rare in SEQ, these days you nearly have to move to avoid them.
