Not sure if this has been addressed before, but would you put braid on an alvey?
I certainly would not and I am not sure if alvey would recommend it.
Thoughts?

I've seen a few spooled with braid. Can't see the benifit of cut for finger trying to get the line evenly across the spool winding in let alone during a decent fight.
Looking forward to the next trip

I have only seen braid used in alvey style snapper reels. Even then the braid was 100lb and gloves were a must.

I prefer cheap mono on my alveys as its normally thicker.

Yes, saw "old mate" with it on an Alvey offshore a few back, it was 100lb but I reckon his right arm was twice the size of his left!!  All that extra winding!!
