Help Wanted
« on: Fri 20 Oct 19:26 2017 »
Hi,

Is there anyone out there that has FREE time and expertise to be able to help finish off including glass work and paint of a Runabout?
Also will need someone at a later point that can weld a few roller mounts and guard on the boat trailer.

Brisbane Northside

All help appreciated :-)

Except for the actual Club members on this site most are only here for the free info

I have done fiberglass but would not say i am an expert,

If you were prepared to tow the boat south side and swap some time more than happy to help with welding and painting.

i hate gardening so if you want to swap hours more than happy to help

Hi guys,

I have decided to give it a go myself, at doing the repairs.
Interested to know if car plastic body filler is what is used to get the smooth finish to fill any low areas before prepping for paint?
As where some glass repairs have taken place, there are low spots left after sanding.
Any help would be great. I am a Pensioner on a budget.

Hi CC,

I have always used Qcell which is a powder then mix with resin which makes a bog then add hardner to the amount you require. You would be best to go to a supplier of F/Glass products and ask. they would help with info if you buy product from them.

Cheers,

Ross

Hey,  I have used both body fillers and Q-cel in resin and both work fine,
a lot  body fillers are polyester resin based, the key is prep, make sure it has
a good keyed surface to stick and wipe down with Acetone before applying
    also helps.

    Cheers Jason
