Lee, I have wasted a few hours looking for it but my quest is over. According to the blokes who know where it is, the fish it holds are mostly large breeding stock and are better left where they are to continue breeding. If the mysterious sink hole does exist and it became common knowledge it would be fished out in no time. In any case there are plenty of other spots to try and I prefer to focus on improving my technical skills rather than chasing the magic spot where huge fish throw themselves at your hook while you're baiting up.  ;)
There are good fisherman who can consistently catch fish most of the time at all the spots I currently fish. I am trying to become one of them.  ;D

Hi, i agree with Chris1954, best left alone me thinks. The bay needs this for our future fish stocks.
It should remain a quandary.
Cheers

To my knowledge there is nothing in that area as definitive as a "sink hole". There are some deeper spots with associated coffee rock ledges that hold fish but I doubt that they are resident as most of our Bay species are quite mobile (except Cod). If you spend time sounding any area of the eastern Bay you are likely to find some isolated structure that can become your own "secret spot"

There is a full size map at www.fishing-mates.com/moretonbay/ that you should give you a better idea where to find the moreton bay sink hole. I haven't fished it yet but have heard a few whispers.

It is part of the Green zone so watch out. I have had alot of success before it was taken over.

Which green zone are you talking about exactly? I think you are misinformed.  :)

It definitely exists - see satellite photo below.
I've fished it for more than 20 years but it really isn't anything special.
There is a lot of silt on the bottom and it is easily disturbed - in conjunction with Channel 10 we put a diver down and he said it was impossible - too much silt to see anything.
